  • “We've been ordering from here from the very first day in opened about 7-8 years ago and have found it to be consistently outstanding and best among the options available in the neighborhood for Indian cuisine. Never had a dish -- chicken, lamb or vegetarian we didn't like and have plans to continue to make it our "go to" place for Indian food for many years into the future (the restaurant's landlord willing, we guess)! By the way, we also found delivery to be very reliable -- hot food and within the stated time if delivery they promised. We'll give it five stars without hesitation.*****”

  • “My first time ordering from this restaurant and it wont be my last. Delivery was prompt. Food was delicious! I ordered their chicken tikka masala brunch special and it came with a good portion of chicken tikka masala, two veggie samosas and naan. There is plenty left over for dinner. A great pick-me-up on a grey Saturday afternoon!”

  • “My husband and I order from Swagat at least once a week because it's that good. Our go-to menu items include chicken tikka masala, paneer makhani and garlic naan (the saag paneer is good too if you appreciate spice). We most often pick up, but have had food delivered as well as eaten on site. The service is excellent regardless of the method-- the staff is just so cheery, prompt and accommodating. Finally the servings are generous, leaving us with delicious left overs the next day. Living near Swagat is one of our favorite things about the UWS! ”

  • “Well it's hard for me to review this one. I ordered the chicken tikka and it was superb. I ordered roti bread also, but instead I was delivered burnt naan bread. The rice was also a little dry and looked re-heated out of the fridge. However the chicken tikka was so good, I would have to return once again.”

  • “Not to sound snooty, but if anyone knows good quality Indian food, it's me. I discovered Indian food only 3 years ago and have now eaten at close to 30 places in both Manhattan and Brooklyn and by far this is the BEST place. I have eaten in the restaurant and taken close to 20 times ( I get food about 1-2 times a week from them), and there food is ALWAYS, and I mean ALWAYS consistent. Staff is friendly and SPEAKS English WELL, and will tweak the order for you if need be. I am not one of the typical "Americans" who only orders Chicken Tikka Masala (that is basically chicken in butter sauce.... if I want that, I would go to an Italian place and order Chicken Francese). Real Indian food is Aloo Gobi, Chana Masale, Matar Paneer, Malai Kofta, Eggplant dishes, and Dal dishes. This is the ONLY place that, no matter what dish I try, I not only like it, but I love it! All the breads are great too as well as the Papadoms. My only small gripe with them is you must constantly remind them to give the sauces you want for delivery (I put it in writing that I won't take the order unless they are included) b/c a meal without Tamarind sauce, is not meal at all, and this fixed the issue with them not being included in delivery. I would love to see them include Papadoms for free (Like every other place I have ever been to) and lower the price a bit on the breads, but I try to keep in mind that they are on the Upper West Side and there rent must be a nightmare. They also have a health grade of A, which is very important in my book. Swagat, if you are reading this, I can only say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for your amazing dishes and service! You have a life long customer!”
