What's New: GrubHub.com Groups Delivery Options
Victoria McGinley, Special to the Chronicle
GrubHub.com is opening new doors in the world of takeout with its debut in San Francisco this week. By typing in an address, users can recieve a listing of all the restaurants that deliver to their location. Each restaurant's takeout menu is available on the site, and features like "My Menu Drawer" allow users to store favorites.
Restaurants can be sorted by delivery times and by listings that offer online ordering. According to GrubHub.com, more than 800 delivery options are available on the site citywide, whereas Waiters on Wheels, a comparable site, has about 115 total. Use of GrubHub.com is free, though individual restaurants my charge a small delivery fee.
To test the service, The Chronicle ordered from Tandoori Mahal and Big Nate's BBQ. Tandoori came at the promised time, but Big Nate's was about a half hour late. Still, both deliveries arrived hot and as described on the menu.
