What is this charge?

That's what they call an “authorization charge.” Long story short, we're asking your bank if your account is both real and stocked with at least enough cash to cover the cost of your order. It will disappear in a few days. If you see more than one charge, don't worry — you haven't been charged twice. The charges will drop off.

If you still have questions, email helpme@grubhub.com and include the purchase amount, the date of the transaction and the last four digits on the card you used. We'll get back to you within one day, we promise.

How do I use GrubHub?

Enter your address and we'll show you restaurants near you that offer pickup or delivery. From there, you can easily place your order online or by phone.

How do I order online?

Choose from one of our online ordering enabled restaurants, peruse the menu and select the items you'd like to order with a click. If options are required, e.g. pizza toppings, you'll be prompted to choose them. Once you're through with ordering, click the green "Finish Ordering" button on the left and follow the checkout instructions from there.

Where is my food?

After placing your order, the restaurant confirms that they've received it and adjusts the estimated delivery time if necessary. Their estimate is in the receipt we email to you. If that time has come and gone, let us know and we'll find out where your food is.

Can I change my order after I place it?

Maybe. If the restaurant has already started preparing your order, they may not be able to change it. Rule of thumb: the sooner you let us know that you want to change your order, the more likely it is that we can get that order changed.

Did my order go through?

If you received a receipt via email, the restaurant is hard at work on your order. See, right when you hit the green button, we shoot your order off to the restaurant. We wait for them to confirm it before sending you your receipt. All of this should happen within 10 minutes. If it's been that long and you're still waiting for a receipt, chat us and we'll find out what's going on.

Oh, and don't forget to look in your spam folder.

Why do I see multiple charges from GrubHub when I only placed one order?

If your order total was adjusted for any reason, you'll see a separate transaction for the correct amount, and the original charge will be voided and disappear after a few days. And if you entered the wrong zip code or a bad CVV, there's also the possibility of a duplicate charge showing up, but it too will disappear in a matter of days.

Does it cost anything extra?

Nope. It is free to use GrubHub's service to place phone and online orders. We don't add any fees to the prices charged by our restaurants and delivery services.

If this is all free, how do you make money?

We thought this might come up. We charge the restaurant a small fee for each order we provide to them. So if you order 7 times from, say, Hank's Ham Shoppe, they will give us 7 tiny chunks of cash.

Is your site secure? How can I be sure?

You know it. We employ all the security standards you know and love (think SSL), never share a drop of information with third parties and our physical data is kept in very secure locations – think that ancient temple at the beginning of Raiders of the Lost Ark and you're halfway there.

What about credit card info?

Nobody sees any of it. Ever. The information is securely transmitted, and your monthly statement will reflect a charge from GrubHub.

I have a question that wasn't addressed!

No worries, we have the answer...

Internet Explorer 6, eh? Sadly, we can no longer support your outdated internet cruiser.

Why? Because it's old. Older than the iPod, older than Windows XP, even older than East Timor. So we're pulling the plug, and some site features might not work for you. Switch over to Firefox, Google Chrome, or the latest version of IE.

Sadly, we're no longer supporting IE7.

Why? It's old, and it just can't keep up with us anymore so we're pulling the plug. This means some site features might not work for you anymore. We recommend taking a look at Firefox, Google Chrome, or the latest version of IE.
