As nice Italian restaurants go, I have had better. Much better, in fact. But they are the only game in town, or at least Hyde Park. They are also just about the only place to take a girl on a date in Hyde Park, which generally is not a major concern for U of C students!

My wife really loves Pizza Capri, especially their salad. So, we would order from this place with some frequency when we lived in Hyde Park. And...every time I ordered from it, I was disappointed. Everything seemed overpriced for the quality. Nothing bad, but nothing particularly good (i.e. worth $10+ for an entree). But, the wife really loves it. Plus, I have heard others rave about their "specialty" pizzas, which I never tried.

Order placed on 6.21.09.Gross. I had to throw out (and spit out) the calabrese focaccia after one bite. It just tasted like greasy salt. Their chicken wings were ok, but their "hot and spicy" sauce was really just tabasco sause, right out of the bottle. I won't be ordering from these guys again. This is an extra shame as they took over the storefront from what used to be a perfectly acceptable baba's steak and lemonade.

I'd disagree with the previous reviewer pretty strongly. I have had good experiences with the Leona's on 53rd after probably a dozen or so dining experiences. It was always timely. And it was what you'd expect from Leona's: lots of tasty stuff that helps you bust your diet. No complaints from me.

This Giordano's has MAJOR MAJOR problems -- that are mostly reducible to staff. The people who answer the phone are really quite rude. The delivery people are REALLY spotty. Sometimes it would take 90 minutes+ to get the pizza (or whatever). I thought this was how Giordano's was until I moved to the North Side. So -- if you are in Hyde Park, be wary that this Giordano's is not like the rest, and the differences are NOT good.

Edwardo's is a pretty serviceable pizza place. Decent deep dish. Decent prices. Decent service. They're not lighting the world on fire, but they aren't too bad, either. The only somewhat quirky thing about them is that sometimes they refuse to deliver because they are too busy. They are just about the only placed that has ever refused me service.
