Italian, Pasta, Healthy, Salads, Chicken, Subs, SeafoodAs nice Italian restaurants go, I have had better. Much better, in fact. But they are the only game in town, or at least Hyde Park. They are also just about the only place to take a girl on a date in Hyde Park, which generally is not a major concern for U of C students!

Sandwiches, Middle-Eastern, MediterraneanCedar's food is always delicious and of good quality. They also have lots of healthy options. Their delivery can sometimes be slow, but the food is always great. Be advised, sometimes the falafel appetizer doesn't travel as well--it gets a bit soggy the way they package it with the hummus and other things. But, I am sure you could ask for the falafel balls to be packed in a separate container to avoid that.

I ordered some of the sushi and their dragon roll literally made me throw up. I was so nauseated by the smell and taste that I had to throw the rest of my sushi away. It did not taste or smell fresh at all. I also ordered the orange peel chicken just because you have to order at least $20 (pre tax and delivery fee) for delivery. This was also disappointing, but I was able to eat it and keep it down despite my previous rejection of the sushi. The cantonese egg rolls were okay---although like most egg rolls available in Hyde Park, they had this nasty peanut like filling. So, I say avoid De Rice Asian. The prices are high. The food is sub par. And the sushi is vomit inducing. Isn't there one decent asian restaurant (other than thai) in Hyde Park??

Mexican, BreakfastI LOVE Maravillas. Having recently moved out of Hyde Park, I have searched in vain for a Mexican restaurant that even comes close. But no dice. Their burritos are fantastic. So are their tacos, their taco salads. Everything. Well...maybe not so much the chips/salsa. They were always a little disappointing. If you are in their delivery area, and are looking for Mexican food, look no further! Also, dining in is a fairly pleasant experience, too. A nice, unassuming restaurant.

I have had good experiences with the Leona's on 53rd after probably a dozen or so dining experiences. It was always timely. And it was what you'd expect from Leona's: lots of tasty stuff that helps you bust your diet. No complaints from me.

Asian, Healthy, Thai, Vegetarian, CantoneseNoodles Etc. has really great pan-Asian food. When I lived in Hyde Park, I ordered from here frequently. I always enjoyed the Pancit and my wife really loved the Pad Woon Sen. We were pretty loyal to these, but every time we did explore, we were very satisfied. Good fried rice, too.
