Great falafel is hard to come by in this town, so it's surprising to find it in a strip mall in Hyde Park....

Dude. I just don't understand. I keep eating here and keep getting take out because apparently its decent and people enjoy. Also, i am NOT a picky eater, and having grown up in the middle east ive had a range of quality in terms of shawarmas, hummus etc. but seriously. WHAT is this. the hummus and the lentil soup is pretty good, but also anyone with half a brain can crush and or boil legumes, not something to build an establishment on. i've had so many other things on this menu and I can't keep wasting my money here. the lamb and beef shawarma is dry and without flavor, the chicken shawarma has some sorta weird radishy thing on it ( NOT AUTHENTIC) the fries, without fail, are always burnt whether i eat them in our outside the restaurant and super soggy when ive ordered them because the delivery is pretty slow and never the time they say they will be.

Cedar's food is always delicious and of good quality. They also have lots of healthy options. Their delivery can sometimes be slow, but the food is always great. Be advised, sometimes the falafel appetizer doesn't travel as well--it gets a bit soggy the way they package it with the hummus and other things. But, I am sure you could ask for the falafel balls to be packed in a separate container to avoid that.

Appetizers and sides (hummus, cheese bread) are really good. They do something strange to the veggies, though. Try them at your own risk.

Can't say enough about how impressed we were with the portion sizes and the quality of the food. The best basic steak and gyros we've had in some time!

I have always loved the Baba Ghanooj at Cedars...but, that was it. Some vegetarian items are mediocre and others so olive-oily that I feel I am drinking it right out of the bottle (with no bread!). But in last night's dinner, I found a new love: Kushary. It's basmati and brown lentils with carmelized onions and yogurt. It's earthy, and comfort food textured, and the thick, warm yogurt has a good tang. It mixes well with the Baba Ghanooj. On the other hand, the Jerusalem Salad was smothered in tahini and had so little lemon. I felt like I was eating a peanut butter and soggy vegetable sandwich. So, I've found two loves and will stick to them until I am ready to venture out again.
