The Little India

Delivery time was quick, however I asked for extra spicy which it was not. It seemed like they just added extra red chili powder. the spice was not cooked into the curry. I would pass on ordering from here again.

I wouldn't order from Essence again. The pieces of chicken in the chicken curries were huge...they should have been smaller. Even after asking for extra spicy, the items were bland.

Gross. Up there with the worst Indian food in the city. The Lamb biryani tasted more like Mexican rice--who puts red or green peppers in their biryani? There was no spices typical to any biryani or Indian food I've ever had. The mango chutney tasted sickly acidic. The naan was typical delivered naan.

There is a $35 minimum order for delivery. Food's pretty good, but it has a more home-made quality than restaurant quality. I got a veg tikka masala and it was nothing like tikka masala usually is. At first I was disappointed, but the dish was actually good - just not what I'd wanted. I'd have given this place 3 stars but the delivery service was bad. Delivery is free but you get what you pay for: it took an hour and a half even though the woman on the phone said it'd be 30 minutes. Tepid food that I could've made myself (if I expanded my spice rack) is not very inspiring, and they forgot my naan. I won't be ordering from here again, but I may stop in if I'm up on Devon.
